After I uninstalled GenusBox, it was still running in Google Chrome (it was not installed as an extension though. It had been installed as a program only.) After a computer restart, it appears to finally be gone, but I wasn't able to connect to the Internet because of a proxy server error. So I went into my browser's Internet connection settings (search for 'proxy' in Chrome settings) and set it back to 'automatically detect' my Internet settings. That fixed things and now my connection is super-fast like it's supposed to be. :) (Later, I noticed that the article mentioned all this towards the bottom of the page, telling us to reset the browser settings back to default, although that will change many more settings than necessary.)
I found the GeniusBox software was installed with Vuze 5.5.0.0. It set itself up as a proxy server to intercept both HTTP and HTTPS traffic, installing a certificate it created in the root certificates list on the system, so that browsers wouldn't warn the user that something was amiss when visiting websites using HTTPS, since it inserted itself as a 'man-in-the-middle' between the browsers on the system and websites, so that it could eavesdrop on encrypted as well as unencrypted web traffic..
